bin format ROM of Shining Force 2 and then begin editing parts of it to your liking.
What exactly do you mean by " control the SF2 program"? If you mean how do you use it to edit parts of the game then you just open it up (I believe it requires a few VB run time files in your system folders, which you should have gotten with the download but can also be found by searching the web), open a. Yes, I want it to be challenging (more so than that Super), but I want lots of things to be different in order to provide a whole new playing experience and cause players to totally rethink their strategies on a lot of the battles. So what you're trying to do is have your normal mode be as hard as BNC's Super?Īlso, how do you control the SF2 Edit program?

I've got an idea for what some of them do though a comprehensive table would be nice, but even just bits and pieces of information would be nice. The difficulty of those battles is going to be beyond mega hard. I have big plans for a few of the battles ahead, namely the Kraken Battle, the Taros Battle, the Harpy Pool battle and, of course, the Chess Battle. It's been pretty fun and enjoyable so far and should continue to be. Battle #12 (the one on Mount Volcano) is one of (if not the) most challenging battles so far because, not only do you have multiple dangerous AoE magic users (who also have the ability to heal), but you also have some strong and manoeuvreable enemies (Evil Cloud and Death Archer). After that, the battles are manageable if you level wisely, until you reach about Battle #9 (the one to Ribble) where very dangerous AoE magic becomes available to the enemy. 4th, the Gizmoes are a lot stronger (well, obviously). 3rd, Sarah has no Heal spell (gains it at LV3) the only way of healing is those 2 Medical Herbs lying around in Grans (though they do restore 15HP instead of 10HP). 1st of all, you have no weapons and the shop doesn't open till after the battle (typical lol). Regarding the difficulty of the mod, the first battle is pretty challenging, for a number of reasons. I will include such things in a separate text file when I'm finished so that those of you with the appropriate knowledge and enthusiasm might try to "resolve" those issues (perhaps *cough* BNC ). Sadly, due to limitations in the editor (and probably the game engine), there are many things that I've been unable to do but would like to be done. Progress is slow, mainly because there's just so many things that are being changed and the documentation has to be done simultaneously, but I'm getting there. It's working out very well so far (currently at Battle #13 - the battle inside Polca Village). This includes all the spells, monster data, item data, shop inventories etc. I'm currently in the process of doing a playthrough and modifying everything as I go. Just thought I'd provide a little update as to what's happening with my revamp. Anyway, back to editing now.Įdit: that's me just finished editing all of the character data (stats, growth rates, spell set, class, resistances, inventory).
Oh, and I'll update this thread every time I make significant progress to keep you all in the loop. And there will be some documentation with it detailing all of the changes so you can browse that for more details on what you can expect. When I do though, I'll post it here so you can all get a taste of it and let me know what you think. I hope to finish it within the next week (currently in the process of editing character data 19 of 30 done so far). + A few other things that currently escape my thought processes. + All of the items will be modified in some way, at the very least, their cost will be altered. The amount of gold dropped will also be changed. + All of the enemies will have their stats, spells etc upgraded to make them more challenging. This includes things like Kraken's Bubble Breath, Odd Eye's Laser, Demon Breath etc. + All of the spells will be redone to make them more powerful and such. For the most part, stats will be significantly boosted.
+ Every character will have different stats, growth rates, spell sets, resistances etc (even a few surprises). I hope it will be the most challenging and most enjoyable SF2 yet.
I'm currently working on my own revamp of SF2, courtesy of the SF2Edit program (it's actually pretty decent, if you know how to handle it and tolerate its frequent crashing).
